Help Solve the Murder of Danny Guerra: Public Appeal for Information

On Friday, March 13, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., 49-year-old Sangre Grande businessman Danny Guerra, owner of DG Homes, was ambushed and fatally shot while sitting in his black Toyota Hilux outside his office at Guy Trace, North Oropouche Road, Sangre Grande, Trinidad and Tobago.

Security camera footage captured the attack: a white Nissan Tiida pulled alongside Guerra’s vehicle. Two masked gunmen exited, approached on foot, and opened fire, striking him multiple times. He was rushed to Sangre Grande Hospital in a private vehicle but was pronounced dead on arrival. The gunmen fled east along Oropouche Road.

No arrests have been made. Police are investigating multiple possible motives, including business and land disputes (one theory centers on a $21 million land purchase), rivalries tied to quarrying operations, and other factors linked to his background. The killing has all the hallmarks of a professional hit. Days after the murder, one of Guerra’s employees was also gunned down, heightening concerns of escalating violence in the area.

Guerra had previously been in the public eye. In late 2025 he was placed under a preventative detention order during the State of Emergency and was accused of leading an organized crime group involved in illegal arms trafficking, money laundering, and other activities. He and his son Garvin were also linked to an alleged plot against a government minister. He was released on January 2, 2026. His family has continued a constitutional lawsuit against the state related to a 2024 police search.

Despite these details, the motive for his murder remains unclear, and investigators are actively pursuing leads. Every piece of information matters—whether it’s dashcam footage from nearby roads, sightings of the white Nissan Tiida before or after the shooting, knowledge of recent business dealings, threats, or anything that seems out of place.
